GMC’s compact Terrain is an excellent SUV for a number of different reasons, and it’s available across four trims that suit various types of drivers. For families, for ride-sharing, for college students, for professionals, and for weekend adventurers, there is a Terrain that can fit into your lifestyle. However, it’s important to know which trim comes with the features that appeal to you, and this trim guide will help you narrow down how to shop for a GMC Terrain for sale that has everything you want out of a compact SUV.

Some of the basic information you should be aware of is that all of the trims come with a standard 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder that makes 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. All versions of the 2024 Terrain are equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available. The Terrain has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. It also has a max towing capacity of 1,500 lbs and features two-row seating for up to five people, with a cargo capacity of 29.6 cu.ft. behind the second row and up to 63.3 cu.ft. of space with the second row folded down.

The 2024 Terrain SLE

The 2024 Terrain SLE is the base trim and comes with everything you need to get the most out of the Terrain in all the most practical ways possible. Some of its basic features include the GMC Pro Safety suite, which consists of driver aids and automatic assists. There is also the available GMC Pro Safety Plus package, along with several tech and convenience packages that you can add, such as the Driver Convenience Package and the Infotainment Package I. Additionally, you can upgrade the SLE with the Elevation Edition, which features a blacked-out theme for the Terrain, including 19-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with black GMC center caps with red lettering, along with black accents and a darkened front grille.

The SLE comes standard with 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, an LED lighting array for the exterior, active noise cancellation, and a manual liftgate. Inside, you have a complete suite of GMC infotainment features with wireless smartphone projection and Bluetooth streaming using voice-command pass-through, all integrated with a seven-inch touchscreen. SiriusXM and Wi-Fi capabilities also come standard, along with a 4.2-inch multi-color digital driver display. You have two USB charging ports to keep your devices powered up. In terms of comfort, four-way manual front seats and front carpeted floor mats help round out the SLE trim.

The 2024 Terrain SLT

The Terrain SLT comes packed with everything from the SLE but offers some extra conveniences and standard improvements. This is a good middle-tier trim for those who want more than just the basics but are not quite ready for something more off-road-focused or extremely luxurious. It has the same available packages as the SLE, including the GMC Pro Safety Plus package and the Elevation Edition. You can also upgrade the SLT with additional tech via the Infotainment Package II, which features a premium Bose seven-speaker audio system, or the Tech Package, which comes with a head-up display, Front and Rear Park Assist, and HD Surround Vision.

The SLT is also available with 19-inch Gloss Black wheels but comes standard with 18-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels. You also have extra convenience features like the standard Memory Package, which features two presets for the driver seat. This fits nicely with the eight-way power driver seat and six-way power front passenger seat, along with lumbar support and heating for both front seats. The SLT trim also comes with a universal home remote and dual-zone automatic climate control. The trim even manages to include several other significant upgrades over the SLE, such as swapping the seven-inch touchscreen with an eight-inch touchscreen, featuring interior ambient lighting, and adding additional USB ports.

The 2024 Terrain AT4

The AT4 represents the Terrain’s option for a rugged, off-road trim and comes standard with all-wheel drive. It also comes standard with a skid plate to protect the undercarriage, performance brakes, and 17-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels tucked inside all-season tires. In addition to everything the SLT features, it adds quite a few standard features to the slate. For instance, the AT4 comes standard with GMC Pro Safety Plus, which includes additional safety features such as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Rear Park Assist. The package also includes additional benefits such as Adaptive Cruise Control and a Safety Alert Seat.

The AT4 has other functional benefits as well, such as a heated steering wheel and a hands-free power programmable liftgate, so you can open the liftgate while your hands are occupied. You have an LED lighting array, roof-mounted side rails, and front sill plates. You even have the same power seating configuration as the SLT, but it includes perforated leather-appointed seating with the AT4 logo. There is the same infotainment suite as the SLT trim, including the eight-inch touchscreen and 4.2-inch digital driver display, complete with smartphone projection, Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, and voice-command pass-through with Bluetooth wireless media streaming.

The 2024 Terrain Denali

The Denali represents the pinnacle of luxury that the Terrain has to offer. It’s the top-shelf model for the 2024 model year, featuring a lot of standard features and available add-ons to raise its value as a compact SUV. The Denali comes standard with 19-inch Bright machined aluminum wheels with Dark Gray painted accents, as well as all of the standard features from the previous trims. You can upgrade the Denali with the Comfort Package or the Denali Premium Package, which feature heated rear outboard seats and ventilated driver and front passenger seats. Alternatively, you can indulge in the Tech Package, which comes with Automatic Parking Assist and HD Surround Vision. There is even the option to add the Black Diamond Edition, which comes with the SkyScape power sunroof, an After Midnight finish for the 19-inch wheels, and all of the features from the Denali Premium Package.

Inside the cabin, the Denali raises the bar on the Terrain’s content, sporting a standard head-up display on the driver’s side, an eight-inch digital driver display, and wireless charging for smartphones. The infotainment system also sees a slight buff, with integrated navigation being a standard inclusion in addition to the features from the other trims, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You have the standard inclusion of Bluetooth media streaming and Wi-Fi hotspot support. The heated power front seats are also present, wrapped in perforated leather upholstery with the Denali logo present. You have front and rear carpeted floor mats, a compass, and the inclusion of a three-channel programmable universal home remote. The Denali gives you everything you need to indulge in the luxury comforts available for the 2024 Terrain.
