I wanted to leave a well-deserved positive review for Jim Ellis GMC in Buford, GA. I recently purchased a 2017 Land Rover Discovery from them, and so far my overall experience has been excellent. Hopefully I’m not writing this review too early! When I first started shopping, I actually had another Land Rover picked out at a dealership in Bradenton, Florida. While browsing CarGurus, I noticed Jim Ellis had a similar Discovery in a different color. I reached out and was connected with Craig. We took the vehicle for a test drive, and since I spent about five years in the automotive truck industry, Craig and I connected right away. We were both transparent throughout the process, which I really appreciated. The Discovery drove great, everything functioned properly, and although buying a used Land Rover can be intimidating, I’ve owned five of them over the years. You either get a great one or a problematic one—but for me, nothing beats their combination of luxury, off-road capability, driving experience, and unique features. Even after driving the one at Jim Ellis, I was still set on buying the white Discovery in Florida. I decided to sleep on it while waiting for final numbers from Craig. The next morning, I called the Florida dealership only to find out they had sold the vehicle to one of their employees. Needless to say, I was disappointed, but it made my decision much easier to move forward with the Discovery at Jim Ellis. After working through the negotiations and financing, we finalized the deal. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle on Friday morning, a suspension fault warning appeared before I even left the lot. Thankfully, I didn’t drive away. I immediately let my salesperson and the finance team know, and they got me over to the service department right away. This is where Jim Ellis really impressed me. Instead of brushing the issue aside, they scheduled me for service the very next day, provided me with a loaner vehicle, and arranged to have the Discovery thoroughly inspected by Land Rover so the issue could be diagnosed and repaired correctly—whatever it turned out to be. A special thank you to Nick and Charles in the service department. They’ve been fantastic throughout the process. Craig and JoVn also made the buying experience smooth and professional from start to finish. I’m expecting to get my Discovery back later this week, and I’m optimistic everything will be resolved. I’ll update this review if needed, but so far Jim Ellis GMC has stood behind the vehicle and treated me the right way, which says a lot about their commitment to customer satisfaction. This is actually the second vehicle I’ve purchased from Jim Ellis, and I’m hoping this one turns out to be just as great as the first. Special thanks again to Craig, JoVn, Nick, and Charles. Love the detailed description and explanation of completed service. Pricing is not very reasonable for regular maintenance which is very disappointing for regular customers.
