Living in the Leather City demands a three-row SUV that is equally adept for daily commuting, family trips to metro Atlanta, or a cross-state adventureand that offers some elegance and personality. That’s why so many people find themselves looking at the GMC Acadia for sale in Buford, as it offers the performance they’re looking for with a premium edge.

Granted, it’s not the only option in a crowded market. The Honda Pilot is another popular midsize SUV that often draws comparisons to the Acadia for functionality; however, in recent years, the Acadia has pulled far ahead. As such, Honda refreshed the Pilot for 2026 to try to keep up with its GMC counterpart.

Even so, the 2026 Acadia stays at the top of the midsize segment, offering better performance, creature comforts, technology, and more for a comparable price. One look makes it easy to see why the GMC Acadia sets the benchmark for midsize SUVs.

The Acadia Is More Powerful and Exciting

Even when Buford drivers are looking for a family-friendly SUV, they deserve to have some chutzpah. Part of it is practical: a better-performing midsize SUV can handle full carloads and crowded streets. But you also want to feel a little buzz whenever you get behind the wheel.

The 2026 GMC Acadia delivers on all counts. The 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine easily eclipses the traditional 3.6L V6 in the 2026 Honda Pilot. GMC’s entry makes 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque, which are miles ahead of the Pilot’s 285 hp and 262 lb-ft. Yet EPA-estimated combined fuel mileage is very similar, so you’re not sacrificing fuel economy for performance.

As for the driving experience, the Acadia’s independent suspension is tuned to feel like you’re floating on a cloud. You can upgrade to a performance suspension that takes advantage of the added power. Both SUVs have an available AWD system, but the Acadia provides better standard drive modes, a quieter cabin, and more to make any Buford road a great drive.

The Acadia Offers Luxury Away From Home

Whether you’re driving to Buford High School, the community center, or Buford Dam Park, you deserve to have home-like comforts. The 2026 GMC Acadia delivers those comforts with a high-end design inside and out, overshadowing the Pilot’s focus on the essentials.

Enjoy Premium Materials and Amenities

Even on the base trim levels, which are the Acadia Elevation and Pilot Sport, the difference is apparent. For a similar price, the 2026 Acadia Elevation offers an interior unlike any other, with bonus amenities such as a heated steering wheel, a rear camera mirror, rear climate controls, and available heated second-row seats. The sleek and refined exterior design will set you apart from the Pilot’s plain appearance.

Then there’s high-level Acadia trims like the Denali and Denali Ultimate, which make you feel like royalty from Interstate 985 to Shadburn Avenue. Features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, a head-up display, ventilated seats, 22-inch wheels, a suede headliner, and even massaging front seats put you in command.

Take Advantage of Advanced Technology

The luxurious nature of the GMC Acadia extends to its technology. The 15-inch infotainment screen dwarves the Pilot’s 12.3-inch screen, as does the 11-inch driver information center. Third-row USB ports are standard on the Acadia, as are a wireless phone charger and a 120V power outlet. Shared features such as Google built-in, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM prevent the Pilot from gaining an edge.

The Bose 12-speaker sound system that’s standard on the Acadia is the upgrade option on the Pilot, which says a lot about GMC’s commitment to great audio. There’s also a 16-speaker system for the Denali Ultimate trim. While both SUVs are excellent in the driver-assistance category, the GMC Acadia gets the edge with its available Super Cruise hands-free driving technology, making for an easier ride on compatible roads.

The Acadia Has More Room Inside

The question arises, though: What good are all those conveniences and niceties if the cabin is a cramped mess? You and your growing family need space when you’re on the road, and the 2026 GMC Acadia provides it.

Both the Acadia and Pilot are three-row SUVs, but the Acadia offers more passenger space. Its front row provides 44.28 inches of legroom and 42.6 inches of headroom, outshining the Pilot’s 41 and 40.5 inches. The second row also has more legroom, and the third row is basically identical.

Cargo space is also a decisive victory for the Acadia. In any configuration—behind the first row, second row, or third row—there is more room for your luggage, work supplies, and school projects. The big number is the maximum 97.5 cu.ft. in the Acadia versus 87 cu.ft. in the Pilot. But for the other arrangements, the difference is even more significant. With all seats up, the Acadia has nearly 24% more cargo room!

Make the most use of that space with features such as a one-touch folding and sliding second-row bench seat, an integrated cargo liner, and available second-row captain’s chairs. A Cargo Package adds a shade, vertical net, and tray to the Acadia for easy organization.

Off-Road Meets On-Road

Buford is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from some amazing off-road areas. Explorers want a midsize SUV that can take them to the shores of Lake Lanier and Chattahoochee Bay, or tackle Tray Mountain Road and the Nimblewill Gap. At the same time, you don’t want that to translate to a rough ride in day-to-day outings.

In the battle of the 2026 Honda Pilot TrailSport and the 2026 GMC Acadia AT4, GMC shows it can get tough without losing its sophisticated aura. Some common features are inevitable when adapting a three-row crossover to the trails, such as all-terrain tires, standard AWD, special drive modes, and a suspension lift.

But the AT4 does even more. Its AWD system is enhanced with a dual-clutch rear differential active torque control to manage traction and wheelspin. The suspension is re-tuned with hydraulic rebound control to reduce body roll when carving through tight turns and sand. The Terrain drive mode enables one-pedal driving at low speeds, and the front tow hooks are mounted directly to the frame for maximum strength.

Furthermore, while some people believe the Pilot TrailSport’s suspension is too soft, the Acadia AT4 remains a great ride anywhere. The reduced body roll also provides more control when swinging through Historic Main Street or Woodbriar East, and AWD can be deactivated for more efficiency. Plus, there are packages to add roof cross rails, assist steps, ventilated seats, and more.
