When you’re researching something you want to buy, whether it’s a new smartwatch, a new blender, or a lawn mower, part of that research also includes taking a look at how long that model has been in production. After all, a history of longevity is extremely useful in order to evaluate whether the product you’re checking out can stand the test of time. The same can be said for researching a new vehicle. You want a brand with a proven track record and vehicle options that fit your needs. During your research, you’re likely to learn that Buick is the longest-running automotive manufacturer in the United States, having first appeared in 1899 as The Autocar Company. In addition, you’ll find that the 2024 Buick Enclave is the latest iteration of the longest-running vehicle in Buick’s lineup.

The History of the Buick Enclave

In the automotive industry, some models stand out not only for their sleek looks and strong performance but also for how well they capture an era. The Buick Enclave falls into this category, having made a name for itself since it first debuted in 2007 for the 2008 model year.

When the Enclave was introduced, it was the first large crossover SUV that Buick had ever offered, replacing both the Buick Rainier and the Terraza minivan. It debuted with a sleek and stylish exterior and a generous interior that offered three rows of seats and an unusual level of luxury. Add to that the power of its 3.6L V6 engine, and it’s easy to see why it became an instant hit.

The Buick Enclave kept more-or-less the same design until 2013 when it received a mid-cycle update. This update included changes to the exterior that were more in line with modern style and design trends, as well as significant changes to the technology offered to drivers. For instance, the new IntelliLink infotainment display offered a touchscreen and blue ambient lighting. Improved safety features were also part of the 2013 refresh, making the Enclave an even stronger contender in its class.

In 2017, Buick announced its plans for the second-generation Enclave, which hit dealership lots in 2018. It offered an even more modern look, with clean lines and a unique grille. The interior also got a makeover that combined seamless comfort, technology, and functionality. In addition, Buick’s dedication to performance was evident with its front engine traverse layout, which provided drivers with a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive option also included an “intelligent” version featuring an active twin-clutch rear differential that made it the first switchable AWD system. This all-wheel drive system helps you navigate changes in terrain or road conditions, perfect for pop-up rain storms or deep mud.

The second-generation Enclave also offered advanced safety features, connectivity options, driver-assistance technologies, and efficiency without sacrificing speed. It was refreshed in 2022, giving its exterior new head and tail lights, as well as new trim and wheel options. On the inside, an intuitive center console offered ease of use and style. Today, the second generation heads into its sixth year with the arrival of the 2024 Buick Enclave.

Introducing the 2024 Buick Enclave

The Buick Enclave continues to offer seating for up to seven passengers and a thoughtful focus on what you and your passengers need, regardless of whether you’re dropping the kids off at school or commuting to work. The Enclave has continued to focus on functionality, safety, and technology.

Functionality

The 2024 Buick Enclave is roomy, with a design that gives you an easy transition from work to play. This includes easy access to the 97.4 cu.ft. of maximum cargo space by folding down seats and using the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate. Even better? You can set the height so the liftgate opens as much or as little as you need it to. Functionality continues with the addition of QuietTuning Technology. This technology uses active noise cancellation to reduce unwanted vibrations and noises from the outside, giving you and your passengers a quieter ride on the inside.

It’s easy to get everyone seated inside the Enclave, thanks to its Smart Slide Second Row. This feature activates with the pull of a handle, even when there is a forward-facing child seat installed in the second row. An Under-Floor Storage Area helps keep your Enclave organized, offering ten additional inches of storage.

Safety

Enhanced Buick Driver Confidence is the name of Buick’s suite of safety and driver-assist features. This collection comes standard across all three trim levels of the Enclave and includes features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and more. Each of these systems combines to support you during your drive. In addition, you’ll either receive three years of OnStar Remote Access, which gives you added amenities that support safety, or three years of the OnStar Premium Plan. This plan, standard on the Avenir trim, includes Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services through OnStar Guardian. Our team will be happy to walk you through each of the safety and driver-assist features for the 2024 Buick Enclave to ensure you find the one that best meets your needs.

The same touch-screen is standard for the Essence trim, with the availability of navigation. You’ll also enjoy standard connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Wireless Phone Charging and multiple USB charging ports throughout all three trim levels. You’ll love the flexibility the Enclave gives you with its ability to tow up to 5,000 lbs and added technology that makes towing easier, such as the available Hitch View and Hitch Guidance features.
