The Acadia knows its looks need to be matched by engine power, though. If you purchase an impressive-looking vehicle, you don’t want performance to let you down. Ruins the fun. You’re in luck, as that won’t happen with this GMC success story. With the Acadia, you have two engine options, both strong for this class of vehicle. The first is a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine that offers you 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, you can upgrade to a 3.6L V6 engine that pumps the numbers up to 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines are paired with a nine-speed engine.
An available Adaptive Ride Control system helps keep your ride gentle. The system's shock absorbers adapt to the road’s conditions every two milliseconds so that your SUV always performs the best it can on any terrain. A standard Traction Select System comes in handy, too, because you can switch to different driving modes depending on the conditions outside. With front-wheel drive models, the Traction Select System includes Normal, Snow, Sport, and Trailer/Tow options. The All-wheel drive GMC Acadia models with hall 4x4(AWD), 2x4(AWD Disconnect, Sport, Off-Road, and Trailer/Tow. While we may not need the Snow option here in Georgia, there are plenty of terrain options for wherever the journey might take you.
If you’re someone who plans to do some adventuring, then you may want to opt for the available Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. This adjusts the braking system so that you don’t slide backward or forward as you manage hilly areas on your adventures. It’s a backup system that will let you conquer the outdoors without stress.
Will you be using your Acadia to tow? With the 3.6L V6 engine, the Acadia can tow 4,000 pounds when properly equipped. With the 2.0L engine and proper equipment, the Acadia can tow up to 3,500 pounds. You'll be able to take a small camper or other equipment wherever you need to go.
The Acadia’s performance will let you go wherever you desire, but its interior will keep you comfortable and entertained during your treks. One of the joys of a three-row midsize SUV is it lets you pack in more people than a sedan while still having plenty of legroom.
In the 2023 GMC Acadia, you will have 41 inches of legroom in the front row of seats. If you sit in the second row, you'll have 39.7 inches available and 29.7 inches in the third row. As for cargo space? The GMC Acadia delivers! When you have all three rows of seats up and in use, you'll have 12.3 cu.ft. of space available. Need more? Fold the second row down and get access to 41.7 cu.ft. Fold down the two rows, and you'll be able to make use of 79 cu.ft. In the Acadia, the standard seating arrangement is six seats; however, you can opt for seven seats to bring around one additional passenger.
You’ll be traveling comfortably thanks to a slew of features the Acadia’s interior has available. The Advanced Temperature Control creates three climate zones so that you and your passengers can enjoy your ride even if you have different temperature preferences. If it’s a cold morning and you want your passengers and yourself to be toasty, heated seats and a heated steering wheel can also be added to your Acadia. A dual skyscape sunroof can add an extra layer of cool to your interior, letting sunlight in or letting your passengers gaze up at the stars.
The Acadia is one smart SUV. This model has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, so you can sync your device to a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen. If you want to enjoy your favorite playlist, you’ll be able to hear it crystal clear if you opt for an available Bose premium eight-speaker sound system that’ll let you rock out as you drive down the highway. On the Denali trim, you get a standard wireless charging pad so your devices can remain charged without you having to worry about a cord.
Entertainment is not all the Acadias tech is for, however. You can opt for a digital head-up display (HUD) that projects information, such as navigation instructions and speed, right onto the bottom of your windshield. Not only is this a feature that’ll impress your passengers, but it also makes for a safer ride as you don’t have to look away from the road thanks to where the information is projected.
Your rear mirror can be equipped with a camera to expand your view, which goes well with a high-definition surround vision system that projects an overhead view of your SUV so you have a sense of what is right around it at all times. A Teen Driver system lets you review the details of a drive so that if you have a young driver, you can see what speed they drove at and how they performed on the road. This feature should entice anyone who has kids nearing driving age.
The Acadia has a suite of safety and driver assist features, such as front pedestrian braking, rear cross traffic alert, and lane keep assist with lane departure warning. Thanks to how smart the Acadia is, it has sensors that will keep you informed of possible collisions or if you’re veering outside of your lane. In some cases, the Acadia can even react in a crisis situation for you should you allow it to (although, you should always assume that you should react immediately; an aware and engaged driver is the best safety feature of all).
