GMC Terrain

The compact GMC Terrain first came out in 2010. This model has seating for five people, including the driver, but though there are fewer seats than bigger SUVs, the Terrain uses that extra space to give each individual ample room to get comfortable. If, however, you need to haul something, you can fold the rear passenger seats down to create more room for larger or longer items. This makes the Terrain an excellent family SUV as well as a solo adventure vehicle.

One of the best qualities that SUVs possess is that they tend to last longer than many other types of vehicles, and the GMC Terrain is no exception. In addition to a long lifespan, the Terrain is fuel-efficient, though the exact numbers depend on the engine and model year. GMC is a premium brand, so when you drive a Terrain, you’ll notice a difference between it and other vehicles––it has class, style, and those creature comforts that make you want to stay inside your SUV and luxuriate.

GMC Acadia

The bigger and older sibling of the Terrain, the Acadia arrived on the scene in 2007 and helped modernize GMC’s SUV lineup. The GMC Acadia is a three-row SUV, seating up to eight people, and has the distinction of being the first GMC passenger vehicle to offer front-wheel drive. Despite its many claims to fame, the Acadia takes it all in stride, offering its drivers and passengers modern convenience, a stylish exterior, and a lower maintenance and repair bill than many other SUVs.

The Acadia was also the first unibody vehicle from GMC, which means that the vehicle's frame and body are built as one unit. This is advantageous for several reasons. Since the unibody is lighter than a steel frame and separate body, it improves the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and handling. It even enhances ride comfort due to the unibody’s capability to absorb more shock from things like potholes, gravel, and other poor road conditions. The Acadia is also known for its high scores in crash testing, which makes sense considering how well-built it is, along with the inclusion of modern innovations.

GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

The oldest and largest SUV in the GMC lineup is the Yukon, along with its slightly heftier twin, the GMC Yukon XL. This full-size SUV has been around for over thirty years, first appearing in dealerships around the country in 1992. Seating is available for up to nine passengers, depending on whether you want captain’s chairs or bench seats. The Yukon models are built rugged, able to handle a large family’s antics just as well as off-roading through mud, sand, dirt, rock, and brush. If you want something that can go the distance and beyond, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are ready and willing to take you there.

You can get the various model years of the Yukon and Yukon XL in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and you’ll also have several powertrain options to choose from. One of the best things about the Yukon is how configurable it is. Do you like the idea of a simple, streamlined work vehicle, or are you looking for something more refined and luxurious? Either way, a Yukon fits the bill. Its beefy powertrain, smooth automatic transmission, and independent rear suspension make the Yukon a dream to drive, no matter where you’re going or what adventures you have planned.
