GMC Duramax Diesel Engines Revisited

Thinking about whether to go with a regular gasoline or diesel engine in your next GMC truck? Here at Jim Ellis Buick GMC Mall of GA, we like to give you a clear idea of what to expect with every powertrain that you come across within our inventory. Today, our focus is the GMC Duramax diesel engine, which we really believe that you will be interested to hear all about!

GMC Duramax diesel engines come available in both the GMC Canyon and Sierra HD, with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel I4 engine prominent in the former and a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 present in the latter. These engine options are known to utilize a different combustion process-compression ignition-than a gasoline engine uses, giving you different results and a unique set of expectations.

The results are pretty stunning, as capability still remains just as potent but efficiency gains a major lift. The I4 turbodiesel engine of the Canyon can trailer up to a maximum of 7,700 pounds, while having the best two-wheel drive fuel economy of any pickup on the market at 31 miles per gallon highway. The available turbodiesel V8 engine of the GMC Sierra HD makes its own mark, producing 910 pound-feet for immense torque to support rigorous trailer pulling.

Test out a Duramax diesel engine in a new GMC truck here at Jim Ellis Buick GMC Mall of GA today!
